Upcoming Changes to Vietnam's Provincial Map – No Impact on Addresses
Upcoming Changes to Vietnam's Provincial Map – No Impact on Addresses

Dear Valued Clients,

We would like to inform you about significant changes that the Government of Vietnam has announced regarding its administrative boundaries. These changes will reshape certain provinces. They are part of a national effort to streamline local governance and enhance regional development.

These adjustments will take effect on 1st July 2025.

Major Changes in the Administrative Boundaries

Province Mergers

One of the most prominent changes involves merging several provinces. From 63 provinces, Vietnam will now have only 34 provinces. Notably, 10 provinces will remain unchanged. These include:

  • Hà Nội

  • Huế

  • Quảng Ninh

  • Cao Bằng

  • Lạng Sơn

  • Lai Châu

  • Điện Biên

  • Sơn La

  • Thanh Hóa

  • Nghệ An

  • Hà Tĩnh

  • Tuyên Quang

Changes in Administrative Levels

Another significant change is the restructuring of administrative units. Vietnam will now operate with only two administrative levels. Gone are the days of districts in addresses.

For example:

Old Format:

36/24/19 Street 4, Quarter 6, Hiep Binh Phuoc Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

New Format:

36/24/19 Street 4, Quarter 6, Hiep Binh Ward, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam

This shift means that old areas like Thu Duc City or District 1 will no longer exist in the same manner. Thu Duc will be divided into several smaller new units.

Impact of Changes

We understand that you may have concerns about how these changes will affect you. Please rest assured that these modifications will not impact your current shipping addresses, documentation, or ongoing operations.

All postal codes, street names, and official records will remain valid. Local authorities will recognize them, minimizing disruption.

We at Tron Chan ensure that our processes, logistics, and compliance strategies will continue seamlessly. We monitor updates closely to coordinate effectively with relevant agencies and partners.

Future Developments

As these changes unfold, it is essential to stay informed. The government’s restructuring aims to promote efficient governance. This will improve regional development and community engagement.

Understanding the New Structure

The government believes these changes will foster a better alignment of resources with local needs. Increased efficiency and a clearer administrative structure are expected outcomes.

Address Updates

With the planned restructuring, address formats will evolve. Customers and businesses must adjust to these changes patiently.

How to Adapt

To adapt smoothly:

  1. Update Your Records: Ensure that all documentation reflects the new address formats as they become effective.

  2. Communicate Changes: Inform suppliers and other relevant stakeholders about the new address formats.

  3. Stay Connected: Continue to follow updates from local government sources for any further adjustments.

Conclusion

In summary, the changes to Vietnam’s provincial map present both challenges and opportunities. By understanding and adapting to these changes, you can ensure a seamless transition. We appreciate your trust in us and look forward to assisting you during this period.

Thank you for your continued support.

Warm regards,
